I made some metal sculptures out of scrap steel I found in the garage.I used 1/8" 6013 for everything cause that's what I had laying around. I've been selling most of these to a art local shop.First one I made to look like a person. The railroad nails on the feet actually keep the piece from tipping over. Second piece kinda resembles a rabbit or a kangaroo. Sorry about the blurry photo for this one it was a little dark inside.Last piece is a winged creature. I used angle iron for the body and flat bar for the wings and "feathers"View from above. And below.

Reply:Thanks guys. I have quite a bit of free time during the week, that's about to change due to a new job at sears hardware. I'm taking photoshop, photography and stick welding at the local community college. At this point in time I'm really thinking about becoming a pipeline welder.

Reply:Good Stuff...!I'd try some 'silicon Bronze' (if you have a TIG) or Brass/LFB (if you have a torch) on one of your future projects.... You'll love the contrast in metallic colors and you can create some very rich, deep colors with heat (Heat Patina).Cheers,Miller Diversion 165120 amp Buzz BoxVictor Oxy/Ace Oxy/LPGSmith "Little" Oxy/LPGHypertherm Powermax 30Lot's of Misc. tools n' crap....

Reply:Thanks again.@jman, I don't have a tig welder but I have an oxy acetylene set. Haven't used it in a while, so I might give that a try once I get the acetylene refilled. |
