Need to have this 3 phase to be able to run on single phase     Info I have   Believe machine was new in 2000      EN50192  Can this motor be rewired (easily) to single phase by disconnecting Red wire and if so will #8 wire and 50 volt at 230 be sufficient?  Or, do I need to buy a phase converter and if so how do I determine which one?  Unit was only used for one or two small projects and then put aside.  If you need more info from machine advise exactly what and will attempt to furnish.

Reply:I looked up the electrical schematic and it is 3 phase only.
Reply:ESAB told me it could be done but they do not do it.  If a need a phase inverter do you have any thoughts as to which one would work best and most reasonable.  New to this field
Reply:Here is the manual.  https://www.esabna.com/literature/pl...f-15-424-a.pdf  You could hook 230 volts to terminals 1 and 3 and it would power up but the fact that nowhere in the manual does it say ANYTHING about single phaseI suspect that there are parts changes needed, at least the input rectifier, to deal with the different current draw!If it were my machine I would not do it!Get a phase converter!There are others on here that know ALOT more than I do about phase converters.
Reply:Thanks for your reply  Not getting any responses re phase converters  That would be my preference but do not know enough to make the purchase.  As i mentioned ESAB does not sell phase converters and I am at a loss as to which one to buy.
Reply:I know there has been numerous discussions about rotary phase converters on here but a search didn't find much!Post a question about phase converters in the "electrical section".That's where all the sparkies hang out!

Reply:They made about 4 different versions of this plasma. 230,460 575 all 3 phase only.But they did make a 208/230 single phase unit. that also might be a 3 phase.Need to see a picture of the data plate. serial number and stock number.Then can give you a more direct answer if your plasma can run on single phase.

Reply:Check your camera settings you should be able to change the picture file size to a smaller one. 5 mega pixal should work just fine and the picture will be clear.Or convert the picture to a PDF picture on you computer before uploading.
