Before I start re-inventing the wheel, I thought I'd see if anyone has already done this. A friend brought over his AEA 200LE and has asked me to design and build a cart for this welder. The idea being that he can roll it around his garage and yard of his trucking company. The main design criteria being large turf style tires, integrated spaces for the external fuel tank, rod holders, leads, an argon cylinder (size not determined yet) and an old school Miller spool gun controller that connects to the welder for aluminum work. The front wheels need to be on a turning axle so he can pull it behind his 6-wheel ATV. Center of gravity probably needs to be kept low so I'm thinking wider not higher. The original exhaust (two vertical mufflers - I think) had been removed at one time and someone made a 2-into-1 manifold out of plumbing fixtures to accomodate this welder's previous life on a service truck. I'm probably going to revert back to the original Miller design because it sticks up above the unit too high.I've got some ideas but I'd sure like to see some pics of similar projects if anyone has any. I have searched portable welding carts on WW but I keep getting the usual plane jane welder cart. The unit is around 600lbs. on its own and will be considerably more with all the accessories added.Feel free to chime in and throw some suggestions my way.Either way, I promise to post pics when all is said and done.Thanks,Eric.
Reply:Well I've got my Bobcat 225G Plus running gear all apart to add shielding gas tank holders for the spoolgun/TIG (argon) and suitcase feeder (C25) but you can see the first stages of it here http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=47501.Since my last posting the tow bar has been completed and a full aluminum tray has been added to the top for storage.  It pulls around behind a yard tractor/mower or 4-wheeler very nicely.  The shielding gas cylinders will mount behind the rear tires on either side of the propane tank to help counter balance the weight of leads and suitcase feeder.  Pushes/pulls around the shop easy.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I built mine to be able to tow around behind my garden tractor. The front hitch has two bolts welded to it that accept the hitch to hook to the tractor.I have genertor that hooks to the back and it follows along. ( for the mig only). I go slow and have had no problems even though its a bit top heavy. go to the scrap yard and get an old garden tractor, That will be your front end with steering  and rear axle.  I used two snapper front ends to make it 4 wheel steering, it makes it easier to get around my shop, but thats overkill if you have the room.here are some pics   http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=40171
Reply:Just updated my Bobcat running gear thread Eric if you're interested in checking out some more possible ideas for your buddy's AEA-200LE.  I didn't hook it up to the Murray lawn mower for any photos but I have in the past and it pulls around quite nicely.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
