I have recently bought an arc welder that can run off of 110v or 220v. When I recieved the welder (bx-1 200c) it came without a plug so I put a 220v plug on and been running it that way. But even more reciently i need to weld some thinner stuff, too thin to use the 220v, so should do I just make an adapter that will fit on the 220v end and plug to a 110 outlet? (assuming I turn the input switch to 110). this is the first welder that can run off of 110 or 220 arc I've used, so i'm not sure if any other changes must be made. for further reference the welder is pictured here
Reply:It should weld on Low even when hooked up to 220v.anyhoo yes you can make an adapter to do what you want.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge

Reply:I would think it would weld with less of a punch when running off of 110v-wouldn't it? it makes scence to me that when you have a lower input voltage you will have a lower output amperage
Reply:get a piece of 1/8th tig wire and bend it so it hangs off your work.. then attach your ground clamp to the bottom of it.. and there ya' go.. less punch in your heat.. i actually adjust my heat this way when i'm welding on different size lines in a high line..if you're not livin on the edge, you're takin up too much room..
