JD2 bender

I have a JD2 bender and have order delrin inserts to bend aluminum pipe with and they have sent me the wrong size twice and now it is Friday night and they are not open till Monday and I cant not do any work. The sad thing is they have on record what I have ordered from them all they have to do is look if they forgot what I told them I needed. JD2 is a joke so far. Anyone have any dealings like this with them. Sorry for the vent

Reply:I ordered a model 32 manual bender and 1 1/2" 90 degree schedule 40 pipe die the Monday before thanksgiving. Took two and a half weeks to receive it, but I am happy with the bender so far. I plan on adding the hydraulic adaptor so I can use an air powered pump to run the beast and start adding more dies. How expensive are the inserts? Didn't notice them on the web site.
Reply:Fireforge they are not on the website they are $80 a set. When I frist ordered the bender I tod them I was going to use it for mill finish al pipe he said problem when started bending the it started scaring it on 1.25" pipe bad enough ti have to weld up the scares. I called and talked to them about it they said I need the delrin inserts ok send them to me took a week and did not get them I called and they had not shipped the. I was not happy they shipped them that day I get them and they are for tubing I call them they 2 day shipped me some more I get them today and one set is right but the other set is for 3/4" pipe not 1.25" pipe and I have jobs to get out and cant do to JD2 not sending stuff out right and it may cost me customers.

Reply:Doug as much $ as I have tied up in this bender I should not have to then I have to spend time to clean all the grease off the pipe.

Reply:I didn't even know of special inserts for aluminum, and have been struggling with the aluminum bends I am doing with my M3 bender.  BTW, I ordered my notchmaster from tricktools.com.  It arrived soon after I ordered, and I heard their customer service is better than JD2.
Reply:I just  ordered a model 53 bender ,with all the dies and delrin insert to do 3/4 to 2" sch 40 aluminum pipe.. Were do I begin. Horrible company to get on the phone. They do call you back and respond to emails. Its a one and ten shot to get them on the phone. if no one picks up it dumps you into voice mail. My order was not shipped complete. If I got the die, I didn't get the delrin insert. The 3/4" die had a weld on it that didn't allow the "U" clamp to fit on it. I Finally agree to grind the weld, the promised to give me a discount on my next order. My 1 1/2" die doesn't fit on the hub,something is off a few thousands. There waiting for me to send a picture. (this was Friday afternoons discovery. ) I was very explicit about what I was trying to bend and asked for there recommendations. The 2" 6R gouged the pipe and deformed it. I was happy to buy an American made machine .It is well made, just need to get the bugs out of it. WelderbobSound Marine Aluminum Boats

Reply:I should mention when I was getting ready to order my model 32, I sent them an email to find out what the lead time was. It does mention contacting them for that info on their web site, I just can't recall where. They responded within 24 hours. I did email back and forth with them a couple of times including after placing my order. They were good to respond. After about 10 days went by from ordering, I did call and speak to a gentleman that stated they were really backed up. He did give me a ship date, and it indeed was the day the bender shipped. So far my only regret is not buying the hydraulic kit when I ordered the bender. Doing multiple repeat bends at 90 degrees gets old quick manually. I'll give them points for being truthful with communication even though I did have to wait to receive my bender. Being a small business owner, I'll stick with them unless there's a catastrophic screw up. They definitely don't mass produce the benders. I can respect a fellow small shop.

The bender works fine it is the customer service that sucks I can understand a mix up one time but two times back to back and then not next day air ship on thier dime. Craig told me it would cost them to much to next day air come on it is costing me in the long run.

Reply:SuperArc thats the deal I am not getting what I paid for and yes there is alot more expensive benders out there and if my time and needs get that big then yes I will buy one but you have to start some where

Reply:montgoc 3Which model jd bender do you have. I have a 6 year old model 4 never had a problem with it but i had to watch employes so that they put the pins in the right place and were inserted all the way. Also you have to use plenty of grease to lube the blocks.  When i bought this bender i check out all different brands and the jd model 4 was the only one that did s bends and they had no problem bending 10 ga tubing.  Super arc i agree that Baileigh is a fine company as i have bought a bs-128m band saw, and the tn-250 notcher from them. But i would buy a jd squared again
Reply:I have the model 4 and never had any problems I think for the money JD2 is a great deal. I called once and got a live person on the phone the owners son I believe everything i order comes pretty much on time. Reply:Well I am done with JD2 they are a total joke after talking to them on Monday they were going to ship the right stuff out that day on 2 day shipping well I still have not got my stuff give them a call today and they dont even have it to ship it out. They said they were going to make it today and ship it today and next day air it to me that means I will not get it till Monday.

Reply:I finally did talk to JD2. They changed there phone system so that at least you can wait for the next available person. They're not quite sure why I can't get a die to fit down on the dowel pins. The did put a new die in the mail the next day.I also had a nice conversation with Bob Hughes about bending aluminum pipe The company can't be all bad if the owner can get on the phone to ensure your getting what you need. Reply:Did you ever get your problem resolved? It would scare me a bit not getting an immediate person on the phone if I called.  I'm a firm believer in customer service and will pay more to get it. Nothing is more frustrating than calling and getting the "We are too busy/you aren't important anymore" type feeling.Finally got the right stuff but I will order from someone else for now on.
