I'm trying to detail some shop drawings and I'm curious if these symbols are correct. My intention is for the symbols to indicate welding on the other side of the tube, but I'm worried they might be interpreted as meaning the other side of the tube wall (meaning the weld would be on the inside of the tube). Reply:to me i would read it as the outside and inside.  On our blue prints in the front of the line there will be 2x or 5x meaning how many times you weld it.  but that's how ours and you can read them either way sometimes. I would give the 2x a shot and see how people read it.
Reply:The flare groove weld symbol should be for arrow side only .... You cannot weld inside a tube.  Put "typ." in the tail of the weld symbol and the welder will know to go to the underside of the joint and also do a flare groove weld.   Similarly with your fillet symbol show arrow side only then mark as typical.

Reply:fortyonethirtyIf anyone asks, tell them to weld the inside of the tube  -  anyway they can.Savior the silence, while they ponder the depth of their original question. In-face of the impossibility, I believe: the/your intent is transparent.Opus

Reply:Personally I think you covered it when you said "both sides" of arrow. But what about adding the "all around" symbol? Attached ImagesDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:Fortyonethirty,     Remove the symbols on the top of the reference line or "Other Side" weld symbol and add TYP (typical) in the tail section. The all around symbol is incorrect since you can not put either of the welds "all around" with them being two different joints apposing each other. jrw159

Reply:For the flare groove, if 1/4 is the weld size, then it needs to be in paretheesses (1/4). For groove welds, weld size goes in parethesses to the left of the symbol. If the number to the left of the symbol is not in parethesses then that number is the bevels depth. No weld size on a groove welding symbol indicates complete joint penetration (CJP).
