I just got an oxy/Acetelyne cutting setup 2 weeks ago and welding tips for it last friday.I welded alot of 16 gauge 1/8th" and 1/4" scrap on saturday for practice and all the welds held (on the thicker welds im having troubles controlling my puddel but i'll keep practicing.)on sunday i go out and practice some more and was getting the flame the same way i was on saturday but my puddles on everything was cold and my filler was not taking to the base metal worth a ****.  needless to say all my "welds" from sunday broke easiely.I went out today and did a cut with the torch andthan the oxy went out.going to refill bottles tommorowanyways my question is could the low oxy/ace tanks be one of the resons that my welds turned into shamefull brazes on sunday.also is there any way to tell that tanks are getting low before they poop out.thanks and sorry bout the long read
Reply:O2 tanks are 2500 psi full and acetylene is 250-300 psi full.  Consider your O2 tank low when you drop into the 500 psi range and your acetylene low at around 50 psi.  At those pressures, they'll probably finish the day out but not do much more.
Reply:yeah i was way low lol   thanks.
Reply:low is not empty. the tanks should weld fine until the actual low pressure gage gets down to what the tip requires(3 psi give or take a rch)
