Reply:Always used Lincoln wire and electrodes.  I'll check the Excelarc box to see where it is made.
Reply:When you complete your mission, then try to find steel made in the U.S.A.Do we actually make anything anymore?
Reply:What is the AWS number for HB-28?   Any welding supply shop that carries Hobart wires should be able to order the HB-28 for you if they don't have it in stock.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Most welding shops/Airgas can order it (ER70-6)HB-28 but it's made in China and i don't want that crap.i did call one AG and they assured me they could get made in the USA HB-28,but im still looking for a good alternative in case it falls through.HOBART IronMan 230 MIGSmith Lifetime WH200 HD O/A Torch
Reply:Try Wal-fart. So many union workers shop there, they must carry all "Made in the USA"200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but some of that Chinese wire is quite good.National Standard  wire welds almost as good as my chinese made ESAB OK Aristorod 12.50, and I think a lot of theirs is US made still.  Airgas carries it, or at least they did.   http://www.nationalstandard.com/index.phpEsab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:I just finished an 8" roll of the Hobart house brand S-6, .030, not the HB. Says right on that one "Made in China"."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:That's the Weldit line also marketed by Hobart. The HB-28 is their supposed premium quality E70S-6. http://www.airgas.com/browse/product...&WT.svl=310026"The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:Very interesting indeed! The picture I found must have been before Hobart sold their soul.
Reply:I'll bet the reason is the ton spools are made in china ,or the product contains china elements that out number the American ones that go into producing the product,   and they roll the lil ones here and package them  (so they gotta say china)....Because the bulk of origin and  usable product comes from there although it has to be downsized here better for transport these days don't know myself just my opinion LOL Lincoln 225 Tombstone,Miller Big 20,Hobart 180,150' Argon,A/D hobart hood 22 Ton Log splitter,79 F350 dump eats 4.75 TONS and still turns cutters, grinders,And a  Hypertherm POWERMAX 30
Reply:Well to clear some of this up some with Hobart wire the deal is....there's two sources of Hobart wire, first source is from Hobart it's self that is all china made wire like from TSC, the second source is Hobart brothers, and that could be from china or USA so confusing yea.HOBART IronMan 230 MIGSmith Lifetime WH200 HD O/A Torch

Reply:I think that Hobart and Hobart Brothers are different.  I don't think that Hobart uses welding wire made by Hobart Brothers which is made in the US and Canada.
Reply:A lot of mig wire comes out of China, Italy, Hungary, India etc.  Whether it is made for them (not being brand specific here) and they put there logo on the box or they own a plant in China or where ever.

Reply:Airgas uses so many different companies to make their wire, no counter person could possibly tell you where it was made. I just found out they are using Pinnacle to make some of their Radnor wire. That is Korean wire and pretty good stuff, too. HB-28 is Hobart Brothers wire and it will be good no matter where it is made. If you insist on using strictly US made, you will be getting ulcers by the end of the year. Less and less is domestically made. With all the impending taxation and regulation, I would expect that trend to continue until it is all made off shore.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS

Reply:Try running some of the Korean stuff. It seems to be the most consistent of the eastern imports. I try to get a wire that runs well in the machines....hang who makes it or where it comes from. I want the best welds and most consistent welds from roll to roll. If that is domestic..so be it...ditto with imports.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:The only thing we now make in the US is bad ideas.
Reply:I finally looked at our stick electrodes, Lincoln electrodes are made in USA of US and foreign components.  To me, that means they use Chinese wire and USA flux.  I haven't had a chance to check the wire yet, I'm pretty sure it is USA, though.
Reply:Some of the smaller Linc wire spools are made in Mex.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:Some of the Lincoln L56 wire was made in Canada too . A couple of years ago , the LWS mentioned that this was coming to an end so get it while you can . I bought several rolls ( and still have it ) . The Lincoln wire sold locally now is made in Mexico . It is not the same from what I can see . The Canadian L56 has a much more fluid weld puddle ( on my machines ) . I'm glad I still have some of the older stuff stockpiled  Almost every other brand sold locally is made in either either China , Italy or Turkey .Miller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200
Reply:Use Kiswel KC-28......End of story.
Reply:The wire that I use at work is made in the USA
Reply:Yea some are the strange thing is im finding wire is very inconsistent on where it comes from,my HB28 i like using is all from china but some others are from the states.HOBART IronMan 230 MIGSmith Lifetime WH200 HD O/A Torch
