I  ran across a Dynasty 300 DX, naked machine at $1000. I'm a metal hobbyist and this seemed like a good buy. The serial number indicates it was made in 1998. The photo shows a machine with knobs rather than pushbuttons. The manual on line for the 300 shows a more recent machine with digital controls rather than the apparent analog controls of this machine. In scanning around on the Miller site, I don't see much about these old Dynasty machines. The seller says it came out of the maintenance dept at a state institution. I'm not sure how long he's owned it. He does say he has the peripherals needed to weld with the machine and that all functions work.Anybody know about these ancient Dynasties? (pun intended) What functions don't they have compared to more recent machines? Are there any typical problems that are likely to occur? Any components likely to go (capacitors, etc.) with an electronic device of this age? [If so is it repairable/replaceable with a soldering iron and some help from the forum on diagnosis?] What would be the cost of equipping it with torch, pedal, regulater, disposables, etc. to make it useful? Anything I'm not considering?
