I wasn't too happy with the Spraymaster gun, it kept cutting out on me.So I go trotting off the the store and buy a Lincoln Magnum Pro.  Get back to the place, and the hookup for the DIN plug is wrongSoooooo, being as it's too windy to do anything around here, I decided to give the Spraymaster another try. This time with close fitting glovesThe baggy gloves I was using the other day were catching underneath the trigger tab  Turns out the gun works fineNow I gotta decide what to do with the new Lincoln gun.  It's really really really really nice Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:That glove is so tight fitting and thin, you can see your hand through it.  I doubt I would even bother putting them on.  The weld is purty.  You know better than to throw a weld up with out giving the specs on it.  what wire, amps, wfs, position, time of day, etc. lol

Reply:I think stick will always be king.  I also think it should be learned first as it teaches all the fundamentals of a good weld.  I am growing fonder of wire the more I use it.  Those welds you have there are simply textbook in my opinion and would be proud to show them off.  I have been using a suitcase with a 12 inch innershield gun when I weld for one contractor.  talk about the cats meow.  The speed and convenience it affords over stick is absolutely amazing.

Reply:congratulations farmersamm, it appears that you,ve welded two bricks together, amazing. if you make the brick shiny first you might even get a smooth looking run.

Reply:Good to see you got it working farmersamm!I've got a 300amp eliminator with the same handle that I took off my T/A 250 after a weeks use (hobart/tweeco plug with a box of parts). It was just too uncomfortable to pull the trigger for long periods (I do a lot of build up). I'd offer the parts but I think the spraymaster takes screw in tips and the eliminator uses twist lock tips.Matt
Reply:Looks great Samm.    Yeah, you should grind off the rust and mill scale but it looks pretty darn good despite that.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Glad you got this one figured out.Samm, based on your weld parameters, and looking at the weld, assume you are using NR211 innershield? No reason to go with an innershield gun with this wire, don't waste your money.  My experience has been, .035, .045 T-11 wires (all brands) will all work just fine thru a Mig gun.  Likewise, ESAB's Coreshield 8, 1/16" (a T-8 wire).   Personally, I only use an Innershield gun for Lincoln's NR232 (also a T-8 wire), and NS-3M, these won't work at all thru a MIG gun.I suggest, once you run this roll out, get the next one .045.   Perfect for the 1/4" and 3/8" +-  you'd normally be working with.  Quite a bit faster when you need it to be, and it can still be turned down for the thin stuff, I've welded 18 ga. galvanized ductwork with .045.Also consider, if available in your area, Hobart's 21B.   Same classification, still a T-11 wire.  More user-friendly, you don't have to be as precise with your ws and voltage settings as with NR211.  If you are in a hurry, you can turn your ws and voltage up over and above the recommended parameters to a point, and still get a good weld, more so than with the NR211.

Reply:Samm, those are some great looking F/C welds. What Innershield is that? I was told I have to go with some big wire for what I described as my requirements. Like you, I do everything outside. But they told me that the Innershields in .035 & .045 were only single pass. I decided when I get the spare money to try Hobart XLR8 in 1/16". When I spoke with Ivan from Hobart/McKay, he said it was just what I was looking for."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
