Newbie to welding and weldingweb here.I bought an old oxy/acetylene setup off of craigslist, and I'm teaching myself to use it. When I tighten the diaphragm knob to adjust the low pressure, the regulator makes a small popping noises as the pressure increases, and the needle jerks up a few lbs with each pop. I think the diaphragm is sticking, or something. Anybody know if this is dangerous, or how to fix it? I know not to oil it, which is too bad, because that would probably fix it. Thanks.
Reply:Somethings is sticking and may be the diaphragm, the popping sould is the high pressure seat opening quickly. As long as the pressure does not climb (creep) it is not dangerous. Do what to make sure the delivery pressure does not creep. Rebuilding the regulator would fix the problem.JimOAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
