First off long time lurker and finally joined, also many thanks to you guys, I've picked up a lot of great useful info from you, so again thanks!I've been welding for over 30 years, started when I was 18 and bought my Lincoln AC/DC 225 tombstone and taught myself to weld. I worked in maintenance for many years used stick & MIG primarily with a little bit of TIG. I bought a Lincoln WeldPak 100 when they came out back in the 90's and have used it for a lot of thin stuff. Picked up a Miller Spectrum 375 plasma cutter 3 years ago. Fast forward to now, I moved into a new house, new garage a few years ago and wired it up with it's own 100 amp service. Along with that I just ordered a Miller 211 MIG and a Miller Diversion 180 TIG and that it where my question lies...Since space is always a premium in a shop, plus having a lot of tools/equipment already in there I am building a cart to hold both the 211 and Diversion 180, now since I will use them to weld the trio of steel, aluminum and stainless, I will then be using different gases. I was planning on setting all three cylinders (80cu.ft.) on the back of the cart and setting up the regulators/flowmeters into a a small manifold that I am machining out of brass and from their with some valves so that I could route either gas to either welder. My question is has any of you guys done something similar? If so pictures would be great, as the ol'saying goes a picture si worth a thousand words. The Lincoln WeldPak 100 is being relegated to fluxcore and is going in the back of my Ford F250SD crewcab long bed along with my generator and gas powered air compressor and a small oxy/acetylene rig for work on my weekend farm.TheGrooveking
Reply:You are building a cart to accomadate the mig machine and the tig welder. What third gas are you referring to? Helium?Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180

Reply:I used to use one argon tank for both tig and aluminum mig. I put a y-valve after the regulator to direct the gas to the appropriate machine without changing hoses. Worked fine for me.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
