Reply:In the second table, Stoody is listed as a classification. I will point out that it is a company which makes lots of electrode and wire types, mostly for hardfacing, and each has its own requirements. Sear, here's a question for you to either answer or research. Both tables show that 6013 runs on either polarity; when would one use reverse (+) polarity versus straight (--) polarity?

Reply:An Irish pipefitter posted some positively beautiful pipe welds about a year or so back, using DCEN 6013,  A big discussion ensued, and all was well.  I believe it was either a water treatment plant, or water pumping plantI hope I got this right, but it does stick out in my mind"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:There are two guys that posted similar welds....pipe fitter on here and AWS and Flange Jockey on Hobart's Weld Talk.  I don't know if they are the same guy, but both are awesome and weld pipe with 6013.  Both of them got flamed pretty hard about welding pipe with 6013.  FJ eventually tried 7018 if I remember right.  It is a shame they don't post anymore.  They were artist.
Reply:I usually read a forum for awhile before jumping in.  I saw real quick it was a hornet's nest over there.  I rather just read the good posts put up, but stay out of the mud holes.  Most of them I figure wouldn't talk and act that way very long face to face around here at least.  They would end up with a spud wench in place of where they should have stuck their foot.  The men I work around are pretty rough and don't put up with a lot of hot air.
