I need to haul dirt to fill and level a place for a barn.  So I borrowed an old scraper from dad.  He had used (abused) it trying to scrape some soft limestone (like chalk) to build up a road base.  The hitch pin he used was under sized and it shock loaded and broke the hitch.I had some 1 inch plate laying around.  I figured I might as well over build it so I wouldn't be rebuilding it a second time.More pics coming... wait for it! Reply:I use a shielded tip on the plasma cutter.  This runs down beside a piece of 1/4 flat stock quite nicely.  1 inch is a little too thick for the cutter, but I think it did a pretty good job.  I had a little screwup for the first few inches of cut, but I figured out the travel speed and it improved.Notice the high dollar welding table! Reply:I cut off the existing rings on the hitch.  I drilled 1-3/8 holes in the 1 inch plate pieces with a holesaw.  I didn't use relief holes, just went slow, used lube, and blew chips out with the blowgun.  The tractor uses a 1-1/4 inch hitch pin.  I figured the 1-3/8 hole would be tight enough to keep the thing from banging around, but not so tight that you'd bend the pin going over a ditch or a hump.  The scraper hitch has a side-to-side swivel, but no relief for going over a ditch.Everything was welded with 6010.  I only had 5/32 rod, and I ran it way too hot trying to get it to penetrate down in the crack (round piece welded to a flat).  I backed off on the amps just enough so the rod didn't catch on fire!!! Reply:Nice repair. Hardly looks like a farm repair... no jagged edges I have a shielded drag torch on my TD 102 and really like it. Definitely saved me on consumables.I have a friend with your scraper's twin. Using it to level barns also. I was amazed how well it worked. What are you farming?
Reply:Looks great, dude!!Now, at the risk of asking a dumb question, did you re-use the round bar on the tractor side?[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009

Reply:That looks great... very clean.
Reply:Welding table is AWESOME... We've all used something like that. The repair looks decent and sufficient. To save your shins, you might want to consider rounding off the corners with a grinder, but that is just me. Later,Jason

Reply:Originally Posted by AndyAI'm not sure what you mean.  I did reuse the round bar that swivels in the tongue of the scraper and most of the forged part that had the rings on it.  I just welded the plates on the forged part.  At first I thought it may be a cast piece.  There's no way a cast iron piece would stand up to the abuse it has survived over the years, and I noticed the piece was welded from the factory.
