Learned my lesson with Eastwood, now looking for a plasma cutter and mig welder.  Miller , hypertherm, or thermal dynamics.  1/2 inch rated cutter and 200 or 250 amp mig, leaning towards td cutmaster 52 and Miller 212.  I'm not a student so the HT rebate does me no good.  Any specials or 0% financing out there?  I know miller had 0%, but the minimum is 10k.  I just need 3 max. Did not see much about Lincoln plasma cutter, but there mig migh be an option as well. Thanks in advance for your response.Jay
Reply:Don't make your decision based on which one is a couple hundred cheaper.....that is similar thinking to buying another imported low cost system! Try them out at the dealer. If you try the Hypertherm, T-D and Lincoln plasma systems with the same ratings (1/2")...then look at the specs (duty cycle, killowatt output (not just amps), look at where they were built (US?, Mexico?, Italy?).  If you have to pay a couple hndred more for a unit that will cut better, last longer and provide longer consumable life...then you will be ahead of the game!Jim Colt Originally Posted by JayfarmlawLearned my lesson with Eastwood, now looking for a plasma cutter and mig welder. Reply:[QUOTE=7A749;2320901You're best off going to your local credit union & applying for a signature or unsecured loan. Sure, the interest will be higher than a secured loan, but if you plan on paying it off short term, not a bad way to go.[/QUOTE]Another option with the credit union if you have the money in savings, but would rather hold it for a rainy day and not spend it on a welder and plasma cutter, do a share backed loan with the money in savings. My local credit union offers a 1% simple interest loan for any amount backed up with shares/savings. While not 0%, it comes darned close...actually better since the money backing the loan is accruing interest.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.
Reply:If I were in your shoes I'd try for the unsecured line of credit and go for the hypertherm power max 45... That's on my wish list right now , hopefully by summer Sent from my mobile device while pooping
Reply:If you can't get a loan, not a great saver, and not in a great hurry, the IRS has a great savings program that doesn't earn interest, over pay your taxes out of each paycheck, then when you get that huge refund, you can buy the best. And to sum up Jim's comment, "buy a Hypertherm"' I will be getting mine next February
