I have a 12 year old Miller trailBlazer 251. I've been told it will but have never attempted to run a mig machine using the 220V out put on the TrailBlazer. I have a MM 252 mig and a Lincoln 180 mig machine. Has anyone done this? Does it work? If so, can I run the mig machine off the TrailBlazer generator and stick weld with the TrailBlazer at the same time?Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180

Reply:I don't know where other's are getting their info, but Miller's spec sheet on the 251 doesn't seem to bear out their comments.According to the specs for the Trailblazer 251 the aux output is as follows:4 Kva/kW33/16.5A120/240 V ACThis means that you only have 16.5 A (at 240V) for powering auxillary tools. The MM252 draws 42A at rated output (60 Hz)You're not going to get much performance (if it even works at all) out of a MM252 powered by a Trailblazer 251.In terms of simultaneous operation.  Forget it.You may be able to "get by" with an inverter based mig welder (Passport Plus), but even that unit requires 20A input at rated output. If mig welding is the objective, your only real option is a suitcase feeder.PS.  All this info is readily available on Miller's website.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:I can tell you from experience that it won't work. I can't even run my little MM140 off of it, much less the higher draw 220v welder. You may get it to run, but you won't weld much more than sheet metal with it. It will also be a frustration in popping the breakers. Once it pops the first time it will pop much quicker the next. It may say that you have 4000 watts, but you can't draw it all out of one outlet.  Initially I just used my TB251 for stick welding, but had some jobs come up that mig welding light gauge tubing would have been way faster, so I tried my little 140. I could weld up to about 18 gauge succesfully. I have also run my spoolgun off of it running both MIG and FC using an SGA100c, and that works good, but not quite as good. My eventual solution was to run a Lincoln LN-25. It gives me all the weld power I want and welds beautifully.

Reply:1) find/purchase a suitable wire feeder.2) connect to the CV output.3) connect the remote contactor control. As far a stick welding at the same time, don't count on it.Last edited by Joshfromsaltlake; 07-08-2012 at 05:37 AM.

Reply:the 6-50 is a 3 wire, i think i understand that the 14-50 has 2 supply's? 1 ground and one neutral? would you wire the ground and neutral together for the 6-50 end. I'm curious to how this generator will run my tig setup on the syncro and soon i plan on investing in a 30a with a wc24 controller and a power block for my gas for a nice all around setup.
