I was told that years ago they made a propane torch with a hose to replace the 1 pound cans with a 5 gal cylinder.I have never seen one but I would like one?Doing the best I can with what I got
Reply:http://www.harborfreight.com/propane...ers-91899.htmlLike that?   If you'd like to run it off a 20lb cylinder, you can buy little adapters meant for camping stoves that work perfectly.
Reply:Are you referring to an air/propane torch? I use this Turbo Torch for sweating copper water pipes. I have two 5 lb. propane cylinders I use, because they fit into a 5 gal bucket."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Not sure if this is what you mean or not. I've used my 20 lb propane adapter hose, that normally lets me use a large propane cylinder vs the small bottles on th camp stove and grill to fuel my small propane torch.http://www.woodlanddirect.com/Outdoo...FQSg4AodKU4AegOne end fits the 20 lb cylinder and the other has the same male end the smaller cylinders used for the torch has..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:The HF one is part way there but still uses 1 pounders.Turbo torch is $$$ ouch! The hose looks good except how about heat without a handle??Would like a bit more on the heat issue please.Doing the best I can with what I got
Reply:Mcmaster has adapters that have one end that looks like the 1 pound bottle with a 'B' hose fitting on the other end.Part number 7976A22http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/119/3377/=lmd4c9Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:If you combine the Harbour Freight torch with one of those (walmart), I believe you have what you're looking for.
Reply:I am extremely fond of my Red Dragon Shop Torch, a hand torch, 50,000 BTU.  I think they call it an HT 1 1/2, because the output is 1.5 inch diameter.     Serious heat output for serious heating.  I use it for annealing copper and lots of other things.   I generally have it hooked up to a barbeque size tank. The larger weed burners have their place, but don't seem to meet my needs.  I have one in my shed.Obviously your needs may be different, and you may want a smaller torch for smaller work.RichardSculptures in copper and other metalshttp://www.fergusonsculpture.comSyncrowave 200 Millermatic 211Readywelder spoolgunHypertherm 600 plasma cutterThermal Arc GMS300 Victor OA torchHomemade Blacksmith propane forge

Reply:I guess a little from ADVAN and some of DSW would accomplish what I am looking for depending on the HF out put is. I don't want a blow torch effect just want thisa hose and a bigger tank and some way to put them together in a working and safe assembly. The auto ignites have a bit of a handle but require constant trigger pressure.Last edited by Charliekilo; 02-24-2013 at 09:27 PM.Doing the best I can with what I got

Reply:Go to Walmart.com and in the sports and outdoor section, search for "propane hose".  They have several."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Does that torch require a regulator to control the pressure from the BBQ tank?  Some the hose adapters do not come with a regulator.
Reply:I think they have an orifice that regulates flow. I got one of those bernzomatic plumbing torches for mapp and propane, I use that propane extension hoses for it, for stoves, lantern ect. works pretty good for a small forge burner(with bricks). Oh and I use my little brass torch like above, for when I need a small torch to solder a small job. better than them fat cylinders in the way.
Reply:Thanks for all your input .I think I know how to make up what I want.As been said before there are places that need heat that the 1# cans can't get into and dragging the A/O around is a real pia.Doing the best I can with what I got
