Anyone know if TIG welding effects electronics?  I want to do some welding to my frame and am not sure if I should remove all the electronics first.  I have the area isolated pretty well (the ground is right next to the area I'm welding).  Any help appreciated.
Reply:Tig welding in and of itself doesn't affect electronics any more than mig or stick welding.  What makes tig 'special' in that respect is the high frequency arc starter (or continuous HF in AC).  If you're not welding aluminum, turn off the HF start and most of the danger to electronics will be eliminated.  Disconnecting the vehicle battery and/or pulling the fuse that powers the engine management computer are other safe gaurds you can take to protect the computer.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:If using HF, disconnect the positive, too.
