I need some help, at work I am welding new pads on a rammax trench compactor and I think the wheels are hardend, looks like that when I grind it. The pads are mild steel and when I weld a new pad on it crack right down the middle of my weld, tried preheating it to 600F and still cracks, I am using .045 fux core wire, any help would make me look a lot better in front of the boss. lol
