There is a sale on eBay for 6 lengths of 6300 series square aluminum tubing. $80 for all 6 with free shipping. Its size is .075 by 1- 5/8" by 60". Is this a good alloy for welding? If so, which filler rod. I was planning on building a ski rack to fit under the recess above my garage door. The most it will hold is 100#. Thanks.Last edited by Drf255; 08-16-2011 at 08:02 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:wtf is 6300?Do you mean 6063? it's like the standard for extrusions, it's about half as strong as 6061 and welds very easily. 4043 filler is fine, or 5356.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
