Reply:Awesome Josh! I was hoping you were gonna tell us that YOUR shop fabbed the doors, trucked them over and installed them! It looks like you're cutting a long box in half and not just cutting the original door end off. What do you do with the end that already has doors on it? Do you just cut and cap it off? Glad to hear you're soooo busy. Can we get a bunch more pics? Including your new 400D!!! Take care bud."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:i'm curious also. i know that the new doors make a lot of sense if you are going to be leasing/selling to a retail customer. opening and closing container doors can be a real pain; i've even pushed them closed with a forklift. the new doors look more user friendly.that still leaves the question of what happens at the other end. do they cap it, use the originals; cap rear and install new on the front? just curious.
Reply:Wonder if they are cut to make into doors on each end?
Reply:Originally Posted by jreynoldsweldingYea, were cutting them in half. Taking out a 16" section so they will still stack the same. I wish I could say we fabbed them too, but i cant...they get them shipped in from there main headquarters. Sure, I will take some more pictures this week. And the 400 in action We are swamped! The "other" set of doors stays on, they will have them on both ends. Thanks
Reply:My guess is that there are many more 40'ers available that 20's."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:There are tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands more forties. Look at any loaded container ship. Twentys sell for the same as forties due to their popular size, so if you are modding an end anyway it makes perfect sense to slice forties.
Reply:believe it or not 20'ers are worth way more for storage than 40's. roughly twice the price in fact.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.

Reply:Hey Jreynoldswelding's - Instead of adding a costly second set of doors to the "door half" of a split containers, have you thought about sacrificing a section of container to cut it into end panels - using the roof too? Compared to adding costly unneeded door sets, writing off 16 feet of "tunnel" may yield six rather inexpensive end panels; container owner would have to do the math. Plus the donor section may yield some leftovers that could be used as patch panels, and possibly the floor section could somehow be reutilized too.Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 08-16-2011 at 10:45 AM.

Reply:Originally Posted by AndyAYou'd still need new material to frame out the end. There's some heavier wall tubing on the ends and also the lift/tiedown blocks. The floors are usually very nice plywood with flush top fasteners. I'd love a truckload of that for various projects.I use a 40' with doors on both ends as a shop. Having doors on both ends is absolutely needed. Open both doors and let the air blow through. With just doors on one end you'd be dead this time of year.Originally Posted by Stick-manOne half of the forty footer has a wall and a new set of doors.
