Hi AllI have built up my welding equipment since I was last on here with a sweet miller 250 just snatched yesterday.I now have tig , mig , and stick with just torch and tanks left to get.I am now going after the safety stuff and I am really in the dark when it comes to the right helmet.I have done a lot of reading on here as to the brands and sensors etc. so I get all that but where I am lost is what dark glass rating I should be using? What " light to dark " switching time is proper and safe? What is the best lens size for easy and cheap protector replacement?I for sure need magnification so I will throw that into the mix.I greatly appreciate any advice on this.Thanks.
Reply:Just about any helmet will do as long as it's a good one.  Fixed shade, or auto.If you're having trouble with eyesight, like I do, get some reading glasses made.Make sure they set the focal length for where you weld.  Arms length."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I have a fixed shade but wanted to get into this century!  I thought that lenses came magnified if one needed?
Reply:Cheaters aren't vision corrected, it's like buying a pair of glasses at WalMart.  Your eyes are different.  One eye is stronger than the other generally, and other lopsided problems............"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
