Saw the Cushman  scooter thread but did not want to divert his topic. I picked up a Cushman truck for cheap. I run back across a field between my house and the shop several times a day. I haul welders, everything from welders and pipe benders to a case of soda pop. The Truck is rated at 2200lbs. It has SEVEN leaf springs. I am not sure why it has shocks because the suspension does not move. You can jump up and down on the back and no movement. I started pulling leaf springs, sat too low. I pulled all but one leaf spring, added an airbag, but it wasn't right. So finally I just decided to do it right. Made a 4-link! It was a couple weeks for I added a sway bar. The sway bar was an old Jeep sway bar I cut up and fit. I was running 80-100psi in the bags before the sway bar and about 35psi afterwards. This is not a nice build, nor anything fancy BUT the 4-link and airbags has made this a whole new truck. Absolutely fabulous for running across a field yet still excellent for hauling 500lbs. This is before:These are the parts I cut up:Hubs to adapt Cub Cadet wheel:After:

Reply:That's actually called a Cushman Haulster. I didn't know what they were before I got it. Since then I have been looking around; there are a ton of them out there. Old rough ones like that $1-2k. They still make new ones at almost $20k!!!!!!I would like to make it a 4-wheeler but I have enough projects in front of it. I did end up with a Cushman Truckster for $100. It is running on one cyl and has seen it's better days. I am tearing it down scrapping the truck. I am keeping the engine, trans and axle. I would like to make one from scratch.  The truckster is actually geared to do about 40mph.I like the engine, trans and rear end. The carts themselves are kind of thrown together and most of the frame work seems to be an afterthought. The trans actually has a pto on it which is cool.
Reply:Awesome, I really like it.  And, I love the Hemi bumper sticker.  This is the Kawasaki Mule of yesteryear.  BTW, what motor do these things have?
Reply:Nice. We had a rear axle  off one of those in the shop a month ago. Never seen anything like it, was interesting to take apart.
Reply:I seem to remember that OMC made motors for those.  Is that right?
Reply:I have run the old truckters in years past.  Neat build or rebuild.
Reply:Yea it's OMC., twin air cooled.
