I recently purchased a MIG Welder I was thinking along building a trolley along these lines And stumbled across this design. Darn now I don't know which way to go. I like the latter because it looks like modifying a small hand trolley, and it have big rubber wheels. Should I stick with the more traditional design? Thanks for reading - Matt
Reply:The cart on the first picture allows you to carry the welder, the gas bottle and also has spare shelves for whatever you may need to carry with it (say gloves, spares, etc). The hand trolley is much more limited.Whatever you make will be good practice for your skills,Mikel
Reply:The second cart, I assume the welder sits above the wheels? Looks like a great idea if you move your gear around alot, the old two wheel carts can go up and down ramps and stairs so much easier than a "conventional" cart like the first pic. I think I will try to build one like the second picture for my work, we are always running into different buildings for quick one off repairs. I think it would be ideal for a little mig unit. Now, I wonder if you could add in the fridge mover dolly stair climbers to the back too??? Just my .02, at the end of the day it is nice to have the welder up where it is easy to adjust if you are always in the shop, but portability can really save your back and a$$ in a hurry!Mark
Reply:Mark,My thinking is very similar to your own. My Mig sits in my tight workshop, and will need to be put away after the job is complete. I will probably have a go myself.Hopefully I will remember to take photos as I go.CheersMatthew |
