Black Stallion 104 Aluminized gloves

I guess this is the right sub-section of the forums because I haven't been able to find any Rants & Raves section. Well, Thursday right before class I went to buy a couple of new cutting tips, at Westair (Praxair), and I saw a new pair of gloves that I hadn't noticed before that were shiny and Aluminized and they said they were " Super heat-resistant " and " Great for stick welding " so I thought I would give them a try and I thought they couldn't be more than $20 or so, well the total came out to roughly $60 so I though about $20 was right for the but it turned out they sold me their brand of tip that were like $12 each and the gloves were $41! I didn't notice the cost till the next day when I went to return them because they caught fire almost instantly after I struck an arc and burned the sh*t out of me, all while my instructor was right there beside me in my booth. Well when I took them back to Westair they told me they couldn't do anything but call the manufacturer but they wouldn't be able to do anything for me because they were " USED ", they asked me to leave the gloves there so they could describe them to Black Stallion and to come back the next day and so when I did they said the manufacturer couldn't do anything SO THEY THREW THE GLOVES AWAY! I wanted to keep them to post a picture or send them back to the manufacturer myself because I wanted something done about it because they were obviously defective or they just su*k that bad... Needless to say I won't be going back to Westair any time soon... I guess i'll have to go back to Airgas... Anyone have any suggestions? Reply:I would have taken everything off the counter and put them in my pockets while stareing at them and told them to screw off, hopefully there would be a tungsten sharpener I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:Tillman 750's buddy. best stick welding glove for what? 70 years or something. 16 bucks at your LWS ( well not that one,hah) and my lead arm one usually last me a month or two if i'm good to them. ( lots of overhead 6010 stick  so ymmv) BSX/blck stallion.revco does indeed just copy tillmans poorly.  I have a very nice full leather jacket from them, and some other items, but there gloves have always been junk.  I did get a bsx glove extender that is pretty cool. padded on the bottom but the elastic that holds it to your main glove broke down in two weeks so i just duct tape it to a cut down old tillman 750 for pipe work.
Reply:Uh, excuse me but you say they threw away property that legally belonged to you, without your permission or directive to do so?  And you still have the receipt showing you paid in full for the property?  Or did you surrender the receipt also?You need to talk to the manager of the store about this and if you get anything short of a full refund of the purchase price, talk to the office of consumer affairs in your state and/or a local TV station that does stories on consumer fraud cases.
Reply:Go to your local small claims court , for $10 fill out and affadavid and have them supeoned to court, take your chance and state your case in front of a judge, they state theres. if nothing else you dragged them down to the court for the day. Reply:I normally only buy Tillman's but I saw something new and thought I would give it a try, guy behind the counter said they were great gloves and I didn't think they would be over $20 so I thought it would be worth a try... little did I know the sold me the knock off tips and gouged me on those P.O.S. gloves...
