I am wanting to build some reels for my leads.  I have 200' of 4/0 per reel.  I am looking for dimensions and ideas for shop stands.  They are heavy and I am looking for something easier than the lasso storage I have had them in.  In the end I may find it easier to keep lassoing them but it never hurts to look for ideas.
Reply:200' of 4/0 is going to take some stout reels. This would be a good start to get the sizes figured out http://www.ingersollrandproducts.com...nches/drum.htm
Reply:if your really using the capacity of 4/0 theres no way in hell you can leave them wrapped up at full output.  just throwing that out thereVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Dualie, I sont come close to maxing them out.  I ended up with them in a horse swap and since my old leads were tattered, I couldn't pass these up.  I have $20 dollars wrapped up in them!  I have a stinger whip that I use.  I don't imagine anyone having the wrist ability to handle the heavy stuff.  I uncoil it when I gouge, but most of my welding is 200 amp or less and here lately it has been under 150 for the majority.  I don't bother to uncoil for that.  I have heard you should for any amperage.
Reply:Thanks stroked!
Reply:I tried to tell him what they were worth even as scrap, but he told me to take them.  It is rare to find folks that aren't money obsessed.
