Has anyone used a welding rod that is comparable to the 2222 xhd. Preferably switched from the Eutectic brand to another
Reply:Not saying they don't deserve some; but most exotic, secret super-alloys, don't get much respect.What's your application?
Reply:weld repairing 304 stainless that has been used inside of a carbon steel annealing furnace with an atmosphere controlled with rx gas.
Reply:It is "E NiCrFe-3", high recovery electrode (150%).All main producers have "E NiCrFe-3" in program. By the way "Eutectic" is not producer, they just rebadge welding consumables and machines made by others. They hide chemical composition and often make slightly incorrect statements in their data sheets about mechanical properties.
Reply:Where can I purchase a "E NiCrFe-3" and what is your estimate on the cost per pound?
Reply:Well... I am from Europe.I buy it at 70 $ per kg directly from the factory (inside is shipping charge, Customs Duty, etc included). It is around 160 $/pound. This is excellent price.Eutectic is selling this electrode for 400 $-550 $/pound, depending how they are clever to cheat someone.Where do you live to recommend the best producer?By the way, try at ESAB and Lincoln, but they are not the best in these exotic nickel based alloys!
