I have been searching all day trying to find any hint of guidance on how calculations are performed when making a weld on live lines (ie. Hot Tap Split Tee). I have the API 2201 GP's for Hot Tapping but it doesn't get in to how the calculations are performed. The live line welding that I have performed in the past, the info, UT results, pressures, temp, gas flow etc., were given to an engineer and I in return was given a calc sheet with Heat Input, amps, travel speed, rod size and the welding was completed using these guidlines. So.... where do I find the info on how the calculations were performed? DeepSea5342AWS CWI
Reply:Could you please clarify what do you mean by saying ''welding calculations'' since this normaly expresses the design of the welding including configuration, dimensions, etc
Reply:Take a cpwi class, I believe they cover that in there.
