I am finishing up two awning frames for a store front.  on 12' long for the front and a 5' for the back,  they will be topped with standing seam roof panels.  1 1/2" square tubing frame,  14ga,  will weld to a brick lintel at the bottem and through bolt at the top.i hand bent some scrolls last night by hand, but had a time to get them to match.  i am using 3/8 hot roll so its easy to bend. any input on how to bend them, or anyone have a good bending jig?
Reply:it's really dependent on the type of scroll you want. I've heard of people just drilling an appropriate sized hole in a pipe that is the size the want the scroll to be, and then just sticking the end of the rod in the hole and bending the rod around the pipe. they also sell scrolling equipment. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger
Reply:click the link- they should have some pictures for you to explain what the tool looks like.   the hard thing about making a scroll in the shop with a pipe is getting the progressive spiral if you winding very far.http://www.metalcraftusa.com/scrollbender.html
Reply:Hey jd,Here's a couple scroll jigs I made for lighter usage. The small one I keep in the mobile unit for field jobs & the larger one is in the shop. I also have the HF scroll bender that works quite nicely & you may want to get one if it looks you may get future work needing some decorative scroll addons. I always make the first one to exact specs(pattern piece), then just match the rest to it. It's easy. Reply:Thats some nice bending there Denny Your scrolls look to be 1/4" plate? Didn't know you could bend that by hand.AC-180 Lincolnwelder circa '50's
Reply:For two scrolls, I would use a bending fork similar to  yorkiepap.  I would bend and keep checking it against the first.  Usually if you need two, then it helps to put tick/chalk marks at regular intervals(2-4in) on the bars. The marks make it easier to place bends in the same place each bar.  Here are some other tools I have used:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ht=scroll+toolhttp://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...=scroll+layout
