1. How do you form the X bends that are found on the lids of tool boxes to make them ridge2. I've seen tool boxes like the under body one sold by Buyers, they have this kind of bend around the opening where the lid seals. How you bend this on a brake?3. How would you create these bends with a radius?
Reply:1st this is where REAL a pressbrake would shine, not so much the folder type or even the ones you put in a hydraulic press you see most on here.1- on the x-bends, you just use a top die that fits inside of whatever your building be it a lid or whatever and just put 2 ever so slight bends at intersecting angles.  Typically this is only on pretty light material.2- its a little hard to tell how much clearance is in the photo but you would bend the bend closest to the edge first, then the 2nd and third.  If clearance is an issue there are gooseneck dies and other ingenious ways to do it.I googled this for some pics for you http://www.accurpress.com/appunchdie.html
Reply:better to cross break it first,  press brake or hand brake.  that way you don't have to be looking for pieces of top die to fit between flanges.this can create a situation where there are lefts and rights or flange up or down.Last edited by fdcmiami; 10-25-2011 at 06:46 PM.Reason: add info
