Reply:What about this one?http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-HOODLUM-Lava...item3f061a3b98I thought it looks alittle cooler than the ones above? Will I go blind using any of the 4 helmets above?

Reply:Hard to say cause I don't have any experience with any of those. If it were me, knowing how the NT helmet has worked for me, I'd compare the specs of the NT helmet to anything else I'm looking at. That would give me a ballpark of what to expect. Also consider any kind of warranty a helmet may or may not have. Sometimes you can use it, sometimes not.Lincoln AC225 and CartLincoln WeldPak HD and CartOne hand
Reply:It looks like you are wanting to buy cheap. They will probably work ok for you but if you are going cheap, then you should buy from Harbor Freight so that if it breaks on you, you have somewhere to take the hood for exchange. I dont use a Harbor Freight hood, but would feel better if I had some recourse when the item breaks.UA Local 598

Reply:Originally Posted by welderShaneI agree! It also factors in the question. How cheap are your set of eyes worth?
Reply:Originally Posted by nelson84That is what I want to know? Are these helmets going to injure my eyes or are they the same as the expensive ones? I will be doing a little bit of welding on an old jeep not an every day or every weekend thing. I like the look of the ones with the skull or is it just tacky?
Reply:I see the skull one doesn't have a hand adjusting knob to adjust from 9 - 13 shade.
Reply:These are the ones I let my neighbors use if they want to use my welder. My expensive helmets are not going to get defiled by their sweat, not to mention scratches on the lenses, and their plain lack of respect for my goods. So they get the $5 helmet in the first link as I look on with my 9100xx
Reply:Looks like the typical Harbor Freight lid too me. I dont care for the external adjusters, they get in the way in some positions. What are you using it for? Light fab sometimes? or daily use?You absolutely get what you pay for in welding....all around...Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120

Reply:IMHO they all work ok,If all you do is a bit of backyard welding/hobby work. But if your high amperage welding for several hours a day you wouldnt want to take a chance on cheap eye protectionZeb Millermatic 200Miller Dialarc 250 ac/dcAll people have the right to stupidity but some abuse the privilege |
