Well it's getting towards the holiday season and I'll be heading down to see my parents and other family members for Thanksgiving. I've got an aunt who loves to cook and loves scrapple and bacon so I decided the other day to make her up a couple of presses she can use. I had some scraps of 1/4" thick 3"x6" 304 stainless to use for the press and I picked up a couple premade trowel handles to keep things simple. I'd have liked to use heavier SS but that's what I had on hand. I'll paint the handles and seal the wood before I give them to her. If she likes them I may make her another set to match the size of her pan and do it out of heavier SS and make the handle upright from SS as well. I couldn't find any of my 1" wide 1/8" scrap lying around the other day. I said I'd try and post up some tig picts of lap joints for Gamble to look at and this is the 1st chance I've had to get out to the shop and do any tig work.Tig, Syncrowave 200, argon, 1/16" 308 filler, amps set at 150 but I didn't use anywhere near that with the pedal. Probably closer to 80-90. The handle material is roughly 3/32" thick, possibly a bit thinner. Picts don't show the welds all that good. Lighting was tough with the reflective surfaces of the SS. The top edge isn't as rough as it looks in the 2nd pict. I darkened the pict so you could see the bead better, but it makes it look like I didn't get good fusion at the top edge. Last pict is of that same area of the weld to give you a better idea of the top edge. I need to spend a bit more time at the tech school on tig again. I'm getting a bit rusty. For those of you who don't know what scrapple is, it's a cornmeal and pork product that's popular in the Philly region. If you have to ask what's in it, you probably don't want to know, kind of like spam. Attached ImagesLast edited by DSW; 11-20-2011 at 05:06 PM..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Good looking welds. I've heard of scrapple. Not something you run across around here. I looked it up. Now I wish I hadn't.  It doesn't sound quite as bad as menudo though.

Reply:Schweet idea.  Those scrapple patties look good(welds too!!), but I'm with everyone who said not to worry about what's in it.  Out of sight out of mind.JoeMiller 140 Autoset (2010)Miller Syncrowave 250 (1996)

Reply:Stickman, you really don't. It's just the Mexican version of sonofagun stew, or SOB for the short name. Seasoning is different. I had a dog that wouldn't eat some of the things that go in it. I've tried the homemade and the cafe versions of menudo. They were just bad and worse.Last edited by Oldtimer; 11-22-2011 at 09:41 AM.
