Small demo job.

I was called in to bid on removing this whole overhead crane system. I did something stupid and talked them out of it. I probably could have kept it. Oh well. They at least wanted the steel outside the building removed.Then, they said, THEY were going to rent a torch, and cut it themselves. I didn't even know you could rent oxy/acet set ups! Well, they tried over the weekend, and that Monday morning I got a call at 6:30AM, and was frantically asked to come and save the day! They could not even get it to cut. Why they would cut the bottom bolts on the verticles, and then procede to pull and twist and yank on it, is beyond me. Now this made me REALLY nervous. First, I am petrified of heights. And with this thing leaning like that and loose on the bottom. We ended up chaining the top to a combinations front bucket. I cut it loose and got out of the way before we let it down. Reply:No, as I said in the OP, they rented a torch. The only thing they got it to cut thru were the ground bolts. That would have been the LAST thing I would have cut. Then, they started pushin, tugging, twisting......etc. Then they called me because I have special torches. You know, the ones that WILL cut thru steel!"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:In addition to getting to keep the iron that was removed, was there a monetary exchange for "Saving The Day"? Next time someone wants a bid, give them one. If they accept, remove the stuff and take the cash. Look at all the other steel & hoist you lost out on because of your big mouth. Not to mention a bigger payday to remove the whole shebang at one time. That thing could have come in real handy back at the home shop.
