my amperage is at 88.my angle is at 5 degrees.I don't press the gas all the way. I just feel that 88 amperage is right for me. my problem is I get some under cut on the top part of the weld. not the base but the other part.I could take pictures of it. I know have any right now. I turn in 2 good pieces for welding class. I moved on into doing open corners. I was just wondering whats the angle.

Reply:I assume you mean 5 deg of forward lean. What is your side lean angle? I usually go a bit less than 45 deg, aiming mostly at the lower plate, and use a small motion to wash the puddle up onto the upper plate. If you are getting undercut on the upper plate you need to point the tip more at the lower plate, or add more filler at the top..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
