Posted this on GJ because welding web wasn't responding but here it goes, Im not a pro, just a kid on uni holidays. Made some trolleys for a seafood wholesaler. They're used to hold orders in poly boxes that are then sent to restaurants etc. please note pallet was only placed on for sh*ts n giggles, not the intended use.I used a rather primitive welder, Google CIGWELD 170hf. Its very basic but did that job, this was my first time tig welding confident enough to upgrade to something with pulse and remote foot control...Theres a total of 240 meters of 304 stainless 31.75 x 31.75 x 2mm Attached ImagesLast edited by nerdstar; 12-14-2011 at 11:54 PM.
Reply:the final picture still has pickling paste on it. The pallets 650kg and with the casters i was easily able to pull it around with one finger Attached ImagesLast edited by nerdstar; 12-14-2011 at 11:56 PM.
Reply:You've been busy! Upload a picture after you clean off the pickling paste... stainless looks best clean and bright.
Reply:thanks mate, ill take some more pics tomorrow, the pickling pasted areas came up much brighter than the regular steel. Im well proud of the trolleys but glad its over lol
Reply:Close ups of the welds? They look great from here.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Looks good! My only concern is that 650kg is a lot of weight(1400lbs) to not have any cross bracing. I would be worried that the trolley could "rack" and collapse.
Reply:I do have better welds, however i they were on the underside of the trolley and couldnt access them. Not concerned even the slightest about not having placed cross members. The trollies i have replaced were made from much thinner material and werent made to the same design i have and worked fine. The old trollies upright supports were placed beside the top shelf rather than directly under ( like i did ) and yea worked fine for 7 + years now with constant use of 16 hours a day 6 days a week.Cheers Attached Images

Reply:Your design looks stout enuff, if you trust your welds I think your ok.  But hey I'm not an engineer!AEAD 200LE, Lincoln precision tig 185, Millermatic 251, Spectrum 625 extreme, Victor torch , Smithy 1220LTD. and  Do all C-4 band saw ,  Always adding.
Reply:Originally Posted by slow6iIf it were me, I would be concerned. Thats your name you are putting out there. What happens if one does collapse cause of a cracked weld or something. You can never assume that someone else is gonna treat something that you've made the same way you will. Im sure that thing will be slammed into with forklifts, dropped off of edges, who knows what else, and all of that could potentially lead to a failure which WILL get blamed on you.Not getting down on you, they are nice carts. But its just something to think about I guess.
Reply:I do appreciate all feedback, i wouldn't take offense as all on here are generally only trying to help
Reply:and their intended use Attached Images
Reply:Looks great to me.  I'd be pleased if I was the customer.  Nice, clean, professional.Contrary to popular opinion, I do NOT have a pet turkey that craps molten steel.  It's a goose.
Reply:I love it!Making cash is great!!!
