i saw yesterday on a forum somebodies blue welding cart for the the shop that looked great, i cant remember the forum or thread that it was in, but it looked great, it had storage for helmet, slats for hanging grinders, with the hh190 i got last night i now have 4 welders in the shop, (2) small frame MIG w/ 1 tank, (1) 50 amp/220buzz box stick welder and my gas/oxy set up. the storage/rollout unit will be used in my workshop/garage and only on hard surfaced floors. the foot print would be best as a narrower unit.I want to make a rolling cart for the electric welders and if i can figure out a nice set up i would put the gas rig on there also. so please post pictures of your rolling storage carts so i can get/steal ideas from what has already been done. thks bobbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
Reply:When I purchased my Mig welder I knew I had to build a cart for it. I did a thorough search of this site and downloaded pictures ( there are a lot ) from members kind enough to share their cart builds. From bits here and there I was able to fab a smaller footprint cart that fits my need. Space is a premium in my DIY garage/workshop. I have to be able to maximize whatever is available including the cart in order to reduce clutter. Here is what I came up with. I want to add some drawers but am not experienced in sheet metal works. As a hobby woodworker I can do it in wood but decided to hold back and just leave the cart w/o drawers for now. Given a chance I really want metal drawers if I can find something that will fit. If I was to do it over again I'd probably get the drawers first and fab the cart around it.Last edited by JayL; 12-02-2011 at 04:21 PM.
Reply:Jay thks your cart was the one i believe i saw but couldnt find it worth snot today, it looks great, was it posted recently?....let me study it closely i want to add two more welders to it. thks bobbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
Reply:Bob,I'm not sure about the sizes of your welders but maybe you can build your cart with 3 front decks to hold all the welders. The cart above was my first mig welding project. You can find some more pics here if it could be of any help for your build.http://www.pinoyhandyman.com/showthr...t=1480&page=23Good luck on your build.Jay

Reply:thks guys they look great, the aluminum one is way over my skill level but i like the design, badknot does the unit share the same frame and roll about? i cant decide if i want them stacked or side by side. i think i will design it both ways on paper and go from there, thks bobbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
Reply:Found these pics in a folder ... I snagged 'em 'cause I thought they were good ideas ... don't know where they came from - maybe the Miller site?I know, you've got FOUR (machines!!!) so they don't all apply. The red one has GR8 space on top to throw vise grips, grinders and other tools in use on WHEELS: I used two of those HRBR FR8 10" solid's under an HH140 & a 250cf C25 tank. http://www.harborfreight.com/10-inch...ire-35459.html With just that little load, they moved like they would develop flat spots sometime soon. With 4 welders, you would probably flatten them. I got these from this guy for $3.67 ea last spring! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phenolic-6-X...#ht_500wt_1095I would NEVER use less than a 6" solid phenolic caster rated 250 or 300# on a cart that big. Cast iron even better! I think one of those Yuma boys did a cart with a side by side small case Lincoln + Miller:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...highlight=cartYou could do Tombstone under, small welders above, tanks behind. Tanks 7"o2, 8.5"ace & 9"c25 diam is about the max. 300+# of gases!Found this one too:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...highlight=cartYour tombstone would fit where the drawers are with room for maybe 3 tanks behind. He's got space for tools on top too.And 4shorts did one back in 2008 - ask anyone - has to be the coolest one on the site! Reply:thanks that is exactly the ideas i was hoping for.....the side by side with the tomb stone is what i had in mine, my stick welder is more of a square cube then the "tombstone" style, but i am thinking that will let me get the oxy/ac tanks up next to it. i have the small tanks because its easier on my back to pick them up. i also saw a fold out table that was pretty sweet ......time to start sketching things out.....i think this will be my winter garage project. i guess i need to start weighing things.... thks bobbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
Reply:i think i have decided on a three tier cart that is basically a double wide version of this cart. i cant give credit to the builder because after downloading the picture i lost the website and couldnt find it again. so whom ever built it thanks.so heres the questions what kind of stock to i need to use to hold 40lbs on top shelf, 120 lbs middle shelf, 120 lbs bottom shelf. i am also not opposed to having it have four posts as opposed to the two in the picture if i can make it lighter. where would i find information on what kind of strength the different sizes of stock can hold? i use to have the machinists hand book but cant find it at the moment? thks bobbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder

Reply:the bottom frame is 11ga, the rest of the top is 16ga, all 1" square. The shelves are .060" aluminum and the plate for the bottles is 1/4" aluminum. I'm going to replace the cheap rear wheels with better ones, these tend to flat spot when it sits for awhile. Attached ImagesLast edited by toddb; 12-07-2011 at 02:23 PM.

Reply:todd is 11 gauge just about the same as 1/8" i am thinking using either 1/8" or 3/16" stock. is there any twisting of your frame with the 11 gage stock?bobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder

Reply:thks Todd, so does 1 1/2" square tubing that is 1/8" thick give the same strength as 1 1/4" square tubing that is 3/16 thick? i think i want to have the top shelves open in the front and only supported in the back off of the vertical support that seperates the welding gas tank area from the welding units and i always wind up making things over built and i want to right size this one. thks bobbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
