Reply:So far the pic above is as far as I have gotten. I weld part time in the evenings and weekends so it will take a while. I should get to work on it this evening and I will post a couple more pics tomorrow. Then it is supposed to rain the rest of the week. Hopefully it will be nice on Saturday, because what you see is where I work! LOLThanks for the comments.ECAVE Still learnin'Lincoln AC225Lincoln 135SPHF ChopsawVictor O/ANumerous other items
Reply:Last time I was at the scrap yard I seen a guy with a late 70s model FORD with a rack. It had expanded metal on sides and in front between bed and back wind shield. Was really nice, but the kicker was truck and rack was all same color. Looked slick. Wasn't crazy bout color thou. We are on our way to being farmers! Reply:Not that I am always right either, but I tacked together with the FC and I am welding it out with 7018AC.I have been welding a long time, but I am a long way from knowing it all.It is going on an F150 with an extended cab. The rack will run from bumper to bumper - 20ft. It will have a "parts basket" near the rear also. Thanks for all the comments. Didn't get much done yesterday so no new pics.ECAVE Still learnin'Lincoln AC225Lincoln 135SPHF ChopsawVictor O/ANumerous other items

Reply:Ecave, pretty slick. A note, I experienced. On the freeway a contractor had a large sheet of insulation material come loose from his overhead rack; scared the bejangles outa me at 70 mph as it slid over my roof and clobbered my Tacoma, mostly paint scratches. They made it right to me and all's well. What if it had been a highly dense piece of plywood etc... might have been a real mess. You might add or have some nice tie downs, easy to use etc...might save a lot of grief someday.Lincoln Power MIG 215Lincoln WeldPak 3200HDLincon ProCut 25Lincoln WeldanPower 225 AC/DCIf all else fails... buy more tools |
