Well, I took the plunge and bought a new (used) bottle to hold my gas; an 85cf to replace the pony bottle 20 CF I had. Praxair was the only one close to us that had them that seemed to fit my cart for now. The shop will have a big 330 I think is their capacity but for now, I couldn't see driving to town every week to fill the pony and I'll be on gas most of the time indoor. Anyway, was $200 a fair price? Knowing Praxair has the corporate mentality, probably too high but my local, small LWS had none of similar size (80-125) or I'd have bought it there for probably less but I have no idea what the prices should be. Any ideas?

Reply:That's always great to hear. Lancaster/Palmdale which are the closest towns to us used to be far more industrial but we're down to one LWS and Praxair. There are some other businesses that will fill your bottle but they're generally Sunday afternoon prices all week long or, as you put it, "I need it" pricing. Praxair seemed reasonable on their in-store merchandise and the people were nice so that's great to hear. Just wish they were open at least a few hours on Saturdays like the LWS California Welding is. They're closer to us.
Reply:$200 is what my place charges for 80's.  What's odd is the 125 and the 150's are the same price at $250.  I have a chart sitting here with their prices for bottles.
Reply:Sounds about right to me,too.  Dunno about California, but around here you can always trade in the bottle for a larger one or a different gas mix and receive your original purchase price credit towards the other bottle.  Dunno if they buy them back or not, never asked.  Hang on to copy of your receipt as proof of ownership should you ever trade or need to prove it.  Praxair here is a far more user friendly store than the other LWS (still burning over paying hazardous materiel fees on welding gloves at the competition).  Guess it goes location to location with Praxair.RogerOld, Tired, and GRUMPYSalesman will call, Batteries not included, Assembly is required, and FREE ADVICE IS WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT!Dial Arc 250HFThunderbolt 225 AC/DCAssorted A/O torches

Reply:I bought 2- K/244 bottles off CL for 140.00 ea and took them to my LWS (not airgas) and got a receipt stating that i brought in my own bottles and paid 35.00 ea for hydro ( both were out of hydro) and the date  which that expires in 5 yrs from that date And i just took in the C25/75 bottle that was 68.04 exchangedBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ??
