I have noticed on several of your rigs you have vices mounted. Are these for holding something to weld or other purposes? The reason I ask is I want to build a fold down fab table on the side of my welding trailer. I have a Lincoln 225 weldan g7 and I was told years ago to never strike an arc on the trailer or truck the welder is on. Is there any truth to this? I need this fold down fab table but I dont want to have to separate it every time I setup.
Reply:I was a little apprehensive about it too. Thought maybe the current could make it back to the charging system, but all that it isolated from one another. Then I got to thinking about it and realized it doesn't matter because electricity is always trying to get back to its source anyway.I welded on my trailer with no ill effects
Reply:It is done every day. Weld away.

Reply:I welded lifting eyes on my skid with the welder mouted to it, and it's new and full of electronics. No issuesJust as zap suggested, keep the ground close
