What the title says. What are some good places to buy quality stick electrodes from? LWS carries Radnor crap and TSC carries Hobart stuff which tends to be usable but not a favorite...I prefer Lincoln and would like to try Atom Arc and any other decent brands. Most of the places I see selling online sell in 5 or 10lb containers only and only in 3/32nd and 1/8 and maybe 5/32. I'd like a selection of other sizes.
Reply:Try any welding supply company in town. I buy in 50 lb boxes. Depends on the type of rod your cost will be around the $2.00 a lb range. Some are more some are less. Online will be a killer on shipping. What other size rods are you looking for?

Reply:Home Depot has Lincolns at decent prices. The stores don't carry much of a selection but you go online and get them shipped to the store for pickup.Someone mentioned $2/lb. I would love to find that price. Most I see are $2.50-$3/lb.
Reply:One way the guy could sell it for that price was be local to some of the auctionsI did get a email about a government auction that had a lot of pallets of welding rod were talking tons of sealed cans on a bunch of palletsIf you were close with your own truck or trucksdelivery would just be fuel as most will load trucks for nothing and you just haul it homeIf he bought the entire lot for 10 to 50 cents a pound he could make moneyLast edited by killdozerd11; 08-30-2013 at 04:40 PM.Backed my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me What would SATAN do ?? Reply:Originally Posted by shortfuseYou have to be careful when buying Lincoln 7018's at HD & Lowes...the only 7018's I have ever seen there are "7018AC", not the rods you would customarily use for DC stick welding. Note...I'm referring to the store stock, not internet sales. Their stocking of only the 7018AC rods may be a local thing, but that's what I've seen in Texas and Arkansas anyway.
Reply:My LWS, I need a 50 pound tin of Hobart 418 they have it, done and done.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:Look and see if you have a store called praxair. They carry various brands. I recommend trying a brand called "inweld" they make good rods.
Reply:If you're buying 7018, make sure you buy it in a sealed can. I would not waste my time on big box stores, that sell it in a cardboard box.Watch evilbay and Craigslist, I always find good local pickup deals. If it has to be shipped, I have never found a good deal."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
