ok so i just bought an older miller sidekick with new miller gun and liner, and a few other little things replaced.325.00 is that a fair deal?it included regulator and a spool of wire and a cart too.so i switched polarity cause i dont have a bottle,so i can weld without gas.the only wire i have is L56 not a flux core.my question is even though its not flux core i ran alittle on some scrap steel and it didnt seem to have a bite, even on the highest setting.is this due to not having the flux core wire>does that really make that big of a difference?i am a novice welder.......its a 86 miller sidekick 115volt
Reply:Hey charlie,I have a Sidekick & it is my favorite unit in the shop for .090 with some practice. That's the only time I've used f-c on my unit. Charlie would be much better off using .023 w/C25 as that's all I use on the resto's I do each year...... YES!.... get a tank of C25!!!!DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:i have to say after getting everything setup this welder is amazing, runs strong and smooth.well i have become pretty adept running without gas, but,i am in the process of getting a tank.i have a roll of L56 .023 wire as well.and by the way this is just gonna be an old ratrod......not restored,so im not worried about perfection.this car is not suitable for restoration. |
