Another rush job. Need it by Mon. It's just a little bitty job only 1/2 day to repair. Yeah right. Heard that before.  Anyway here's what we started with. Nice small auger. Just 7' diameter. They want teeth changed while we fix the crack in the box. Teeth turn into bigger job than box. Not much room to swing a hammer and some of them are almost welded in place. Finally got it here about 2:00pm on Fri. Here's where I managed to get to by the end of today.   First couple of pics give a indication of size. BTW he's not a small guy it just looks that way next to this. Third pic shows the problem. Nice little crack next to the weld. Fourth shows after gouging out with plasma. BTW the new Hypertherm Duramax torch is miles better at gouging than the old T-80. It just works better in every way.   Fifth pic shows after welding. I started with 7100 dual shield but started having problems with porosity. Never could figure out what was causing it but after having to redo 3 welds I changed over to 3/16" 7018 run at 220 amps on my XMT304.   More coming. Reply:Here's the final pics.  First shows the finished teeth. The next two show the opposite corner of the box. I'm debating what to do with it right now. At the very least I should do something about that moon sized crater they left at the end of the weld. Reply:the divot in the last pic looks like a crack waitin to happen.  nice beads with the 7018.   there's something about smooth 7018 beads that just says " this weld is STRONG".

Reply:Beautiful work!  I read auger and thought grain auger.....wrong me lol.....man that thing is huge!
Reply:Wayne, what are they drilling 7' holes for? It's funny with all the different welding processes available today you still have to fall back on the old tried and true to get some jobs done.                                                         MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:Ok. Went out and took some shots of the poles. I've not actually had time to go look at them myself.  First is a shot of one of the larger poles I could get close to.   Next is a shot of a small corner pole and row of poles.   Last shots are a small pole I could get real close to. I know that the smallest clamp I'm building for the guys putting the poles in the ground is made for 4' 3" dia. The larger clamp goes down to 5' 3" but both can go larger. Reply:Here's a shot of the first pole they set. They've been going northwest from it but will soon start heading south I think.  Last is the best rainbow I've ever seen. Reply:Those poles Cor-ten? or do they come back for paint later
Reply:I've not asked. I know the part going in the ground isn't painted. It's definitely possible they're cor-ten.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm
