I was welding today just a humming along and ran out of wire. I changed wire and welder acted like it does when contact tip is bad. The crackle sound changed to a hiss and the end of the wire turns to a glowing ball. I checked and adjusted the following things.Hobart ironman 210reel tensionroller pressure2- new contact tipswire diameteramp adjust and wire speed I guess my question is could the sleeve be bad and shorting out my amps? Most i could weld at any time was 1/8" Any Ideas?
Reply:Make sure that the new wire spool doesn't have a stub of wire protruding out the back of the spool and grounding on the backing plate. Most likely since the only thing you changed was the wire spool. Also check your work lead connections.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc. |
