ok so i got my flow meter hooked up on my precision tig 185 since its under my bench i have most of the hose coiled up on the machine. i noticed while holding the foot pedal down it arching off the hose against the machine. so i unwound some and tap the pedal and and its arching off the hose to my hand i had it turned down so no big zap but you can see the arch do i need a new cable is there something else i should check new to tig so i ask those with experience the ground was attached to the table350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:When you say you have the extra hose coiled up on the machine, I believe this means that you have the torch power lead, gas hose, and water return (if water cooled) wrapped up on the power supply.With the torch electrode nowhere near any grounded metal, the high frequency will find the path of least resistance, which in this situation is through the torch power lead insulation and over to the power supply case which is grounded. This will not happen when you actually weld because the HF transfer at the electrode/workpiece. |
