Pricing out a Job for a customer.Need to weld a few antenna mounts and stud weld some threaded rod directly to the side of the tank.Never welded directly to the water tank before (always the catwalk or handrail)Anyway is there anything special  or unusual I should know about welding directly to the tankTHANKSCody WernerFABCONwww.fabconwelds.com
Reply:Assuming the interior of the tank is painted, do you have to take precautions about weld heat burning up the paint and contaminating the water? Welding above or below the water line may drive the answer...?

Reply:Thanks for the repliesI did suggest to the GC to weld bolts to plates to weld to the tank so I wouldn't have to rent stud welding equipment that can reach 110' upTrying to get the engineer to tell me interior coating and wall thickness of the tankCody WernerFABCONwww.fabconwelds.com

Reply:I would get with the AWWAs in-house engineers, or the company that does the warranty inspections. You could cause a massive repair job.... No pressure or anything :-)
Reply:Im pricing off a set of drawings made up by an engineer. I'd image he is with the cell company not the water tower company though.I just want to make sure I have everything I can think of covered.... although I tend to over think most jobs when I should just get to welding....hahaCody WernerFABCONwww.fabconwelds.com
