I have a CH Wf-2000 welder for hobby work and some small autobody. Its a pretty fair machine.I am using .35 flux core wire. The welder has adjustable wire feed speed, but only a HI or LOW voltage setting.I would like to have even a lower voltage setting. I find this welder burns right thru sheet metal. If I got a couple if high amperage diodes and put them in series with the ground clamp, this would knock the voltage down .7 volts in theory.Would this help me? Or what about using a thinner ground clamp wire (or making it longer adding resistance). Thanks for any help.Ian R.Montreal, Canada
Reply:It'll probably help if you get a smaller tip and run .030 wire instead of the .035. Then just practice practice practice.--Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow
Reply:I have the same one, and running .030 wire makes it more manageable. Still takes some getting used to, welding sheet metal. I used the welder to replace cab corners, rocker panels, and wheel arches on an older half-ton I used to have. The machine works better for fixing mower decks, shovels, chairs, etc..... |
