tomorrows the big day! leave in the AM for minneapolis for a SkillsUSA state welding competition! I'm 1 of 4 going from my tech school. If i place 1st i move onto nationals! I have no clue what to expect other than to have fun! Should be a blast! Wish me luck!

Reply:I will be competing in PA skills usa in 2 weeks, but I will be the only one in my division (post-secondary) from the state.  Straight shot to nationals for me Have we all gone mad?

Reply:hah thats awesome snoboarder, yet lucky! theres gonna be quite a few schools there but if anybody from mine can take 1st its either me or another kid whos also a naturally talented welder. as long as somebody from my school places ill be happy!
Reply:I participated in a local event. But, I had no intention of pursuing things any further. Reply:i ended up getting honorable mention, 4th place. I would have placed better had i not welded one fillet on my TIG weldment solid rather than 1" every 2" lawl
Reply:Sorry to hear you didn't do better, it is a good competition, that can be really competative. when I was in high school (back a couple years!) I competed in the automotive field. (wasn't into welding back then) and won gold at reginals and state, but their wasn't a nationals competition for the area i competed under.  4 guys and one hotel room, good times. Travis
Reply:this was my first year ever welding as a half-time student in high school (junior) and i got the silver medal in states this year for Maine.. couldn't even finish my MIG project because of the machine not functioning properly..
