Hey I was just looking up jobs in Alberta and they all require B pressure. I'm wondering why they want a B pressure ticket for a SS Tig job when the test for a BCP 100 has no tig at all and is on mild steel. Are they looking for a special type of b pressure ticket? I haven't stick welded in years and am more comfortable Tig welding since I do it every work day. If there's a b pressure ticket that I can get that's all Tig that would be perfect. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.http://specific.net
Reply:B pressure is required to weld pipe in Alberta. CWB is required for structural.
Reply:somebody explain all this Canuckian pressure rigamarole.
Reply:somebody explain all this Canuckian pressure rigamarole. If you pass a test, they give you a ticket? Does this mean if you go on another job you don't have to re-test? I sure wish it was that way down here.
Reply:The initial Alberta B pressure test  is on 6" carbon steel pipe with SMAW. Once you have the initial ticket you can test for additional endorsements like small bore , tig etc. The ticket is good for 2 years. Alberta and Saskatchewan have a reciprocity agreement, but I'm not sure about other provinces. You will have to have a Red Seal or Alberta Journeyman to test.
Reply:I have a red seal and A level in BC I just think its kinda silly to need a weld certification for something you won't even be doing
Reply:There might be a way to test for tig only, you would have to talk to ABSA. Their website is www.absa.ca Here is a link to the test requirements http://www.absa.ca/Forms/AB-061%20Gr...20Syllabus.pdf
