I went to the local steel yard on Tues., and they gave me a bunch of scrap to practice my tig skills. I've had my machine for over a year now, and have been able to lay a decent weld on aluminum, but haven't messed with anything else. Today I tried some stainless, and also, I have been trying to weld aluminum cans together.  I knew the cans were going to be a pain, but had no clue stainless was going to be so challenging. Anyways, here are some pics of the welds.I started from right to left on the stainless, and had a bit of trouble finding the sweet spot, until after about the first two inches. I believe it was a little too cold, and ended a little too hot. I have no idea how many cans I went through before I was able to get a puddle started without blowing a hole in the can. Every can in the recycle bin is welded togrther though16ga. Reply:The next time you're at my shop I'll give you some 22ga SS to try.....you thought that 16ga was a pain!!! Some .045" filler would have been easier on you...I have some if you want to try it.
