I've finally built a proper welding table.

My projects have gradually been getting bigger and bigger and after building some 18ft sections of railing with a 5ft table I realized that enough is enough. It's 4x8 built mostly out of 2.5x.120 with some 2x14ga.  Iit will have a 4" overhang all the way around, and it recessed the shelves a little so my legs can fit when I'm using it. Tomorrow I'm heading down to get the 3/8" top. I'm also gonna put some heavy MDF in as shelves. I had to show the diagonals. I had never built something so square in my life. I built it on its side and when I finally got it to the floor, it really was a moment of truth when it sat perfectly.  I guess the key is a) perfect cuts, b) lots of clamps, c)take your time and check everything twice, and if it's not right, fix it right there, not later. Reply:I wish I had the hindsight to load your plate out the back of the ute the way you did.Stupid me just loaded a 5' x 3' 1/2" plate into my trailer and once home slid it out the back on the floor and made the table upside down on the plate. I then had to turn the table over. I had no cranes or winches, and had to move the heavy sucker on her feet without killing myself in the process. It took a lot of effort and hurt my back !! Never again......

Reply:Nice table, and I like how simple it is. as Duane Mentioned you've got 8 useable receiver points and 4 more down low. You mentioned vice and grinder for use in them. Aslo you can have bending dies, sheet metal shears, Ring roller, You could even go so far as a sheet metal break (using both sides).Are you going to do anything to allow for clamping in the center of the table or are you just going to weld on some dogs when needed?There are no problems.
